Standing with quiet dignity and majesty across the river from downtown Wilmington, the Battleship NORTH CAROLINA beckons visitors to walk her decks and envision daily life as well as fierce combat that her crew faced in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Golf
While visiting us here at Carolina Beach bring your clubs and enjoy a round of golf at one of the areas many golf courses. Listed below are a handful of the area's courses. A couple of them are only a few minutes away from the Beach House Inn. 

Beau Rivage:  An 18-hole 6,565 yard championship course with undulating hills and valleys, elevation changes, numerous sand traps and water hazards offering the avid golfer a challenging round. (Only 7 miles away).

Echo Farms:  An 18-hole 7000 yard championship golf course re-designed in 1998 giving it a
more Scottish-links feel.  The course offers challenge and enjoyment for all levels of golfing skill. (Only 10 miles away).

Wilmington Municipal Golf Course:  An 18-hole championship course designed by Donald Ross in 1926 to provide the public with a quality course at affordable prices. Located in the heart of Wilmington.

Magnolia Greens:  A 27-hole championship course designed by Tom Jackson located South of Wilmington on Highway 17. 

The Cape: 18-hole championship course. Currently closed for redesign of the course and club house.  (Only 3 miles away)

 


Wilmywood or Hollywood East

That is what Wilmington, NC is affectionately known as since it has the largest full service Movie/TV Studios east of Hollywood in the United States and has over 400 film and TV credits. Come take a tour of Wilmington's Hollywood connections. Tour the EUE Screen Gems Studios or take a walking tour of Downtown Wilmington and visit some of the locations made famous by the film industry.

EUE Screen Gems Tour: Take a walk through Wilmington's two-decade film history with a tour of EUE Screen Gems Studios North Carolina. The one-hour walking tour includes visits to the sets of the CW Network hit show One Tree Hill.

Hollywood Location Walk of Old Wilmington: See actual movie & TV locations, past & present film sets. This 90 minute fun-filled walking tour will have you laughing and crying, and you better do it on cue if you ever want to work in this town again!

  • Carolina Beach State Park:   with a marina providing access to some of North Carolina's best fishing spots, a secluded camping area beneath towering trees, and miles of hiking trails that traverse a variety of distinct habitats—not to mention the presence of the Venus flytrap, native to this area.
  • Jungle Rapids Water Park, Go Cart Track & Much More:  a complete amusement park for the entire family.  Located in Wilmington on Oleander Drive.

  • Winner Boats:  large fishing charters, dinner and dance cruises and scenic tours.  Located in the Marina in Downtown Carolina Beach.

  • Cape Fear Serpentarium:  has been featured on Discovery TV, Animal Planet, Oxford American Magazize, Wilmington Star News and many others. Scientists and tourists alike visit from all over the world to view animals that can be seen nowhere else. The Cape Fear Serpentarium is recognized as one of the world's foremost reptile collections.

  • Henrietta III Riverboat:  Take a dinner cruise down the Cape Fear River. The Henrietta offers sunset cruises as well as themed dinner cruises such as their murder mystery cruise. The riverboat boards from downtown Wilmington.
